Learning to Drive The "XL" Way
Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Gail Keighley, and I am a fully qualified, DSA Approved Driving Instructor, I currently take the majority of the lessons booked through this driving school. I am fully CRB checked and have signed up to the Driving Instructors Code of Conduct - which means I will behave in a totally professional manner at all times.
I have been a fully qualified driving instructor since 2005 and for several of those years also held a secretarial position to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist where I gained valuable skills and knowledge in dealing with people from all walks of life and on many occasions in very stressful situations. I have been able to use some of these skills in my instruction, for example, knowing how to keep a safe, calm and professional teaching environment. I have heard endless stories from my pupils regarding instructors they had before they came to me who were short tempered and aggressive and putting them down all the time, some even shouting at their pupils! I find this unacceptable and unbelievable! - not a great learning environment and certainly not what you are paying them for!
Being a naturally patient and calm person you can rest assured that i will not shout, put you down or be aggressive, but i will be strict with lots of encouragment and laughs along the way! I have a good sense of humour (a must in this profession!!) and a good relationship with all my students ( many of whom still text me after passing to see how i am!!) which makes the learning all the more enjoyable. Driving is a life skill, one of life's great achievements, not only does it give you independence but can open up career prospects too. It's not just about passing the test, of course that is the ultimate goal, but it's also about becoming a safe and confident driver for life and i will help you achieve this by teaching you safe driving habits from the very first lesson.
I am not the cheapest around and certainly not the dearest, if you are offered lessons for rock bottom prices you need to ask yourself why they are so cheap- you get what you pay! I don't offer gimmicks or rock bottom prices but I keep my prices competitive with other local driving schools in the area. However, i do offer discounts for block bookings of 10 or more hours, students, NHS staff and unemployed. I also donate to various charities from my business every month, these include Cancer Research uk, and due to my husbands recent illness, The Rays of Hope Trust Fund for research into liver cancer (based in St. James Hospital in Leeds), by having your lessons with me you are also making a very valuable contribution.
