Learning to Drive the "XL" Way

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Gail Keighley and I am a fully qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor. I am fully CRB checked and have signed up to the Driving Instructors Code of Conduct which means that I will behave in a totally professional manner at all times.

I have been a fully qualified driving instructor since 2005 and for several years before and since also held a secretarial position to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist where I gained valuable skills and knowledge in dealing with people from all walks of life and on many occasions in very stressful situations. I have been able to use some of these skills in my instruction, for example, knowing how to keep a safe, calm and professional teaching environment. I have heard too many stories from my pupils regarding previous instructors who were short tempered and aggressive, not a great learning environment and certainly not what you are paying them for!

Being a naturally patient and calm person you can rest assured that I will not put you down or be aggressive, but I will hand out lots of encouragement with a few laughs thrown in for good measure! I have a good sense of humour - a must in this profession! - and a good relationship with all my students which makes the learning all the more enjoyable and my consistently high first time pass rate reflects this!

Driving is a life skill, one of life's great achievements. Not only will it give you independence but can open up career prospects too. Learning to drive is not just about passing the test, it's also about the safety of you, your passengers and other road users. It's important to introduce responsible driving habits early on in your driving, making you more likely to pass your test and enjoy a lifetime of safe driving.

Price wise I am not the cheapest around and I don't offer silly gimmicks but my prices are competitive with other local driving schools in the area. If you are offered very cheap lessons you need to ask yourself why they are so cheap. However, I do offer discounts for block bookings.
